This was never going to be an easy song to write. I started over 5 years ago. I watched as a friend grieved for the loss of her baby daughter. I saw her social media posts about how the colours of flowers and sunsets brought her daughter back to her. I sat with the song and played it fast and slow and in between and couldn't find a way to finish it. Then I heard someone say that death is just a big sleep and that resonated with me so I took that to the song and finished it. 5 years it took so I hope you can spare a few minutes to listen to it. It's a song about loss and grief and those things aren't easy to write about, but it's a song I had to write and now more than ever I give it up to my friends as a thought and I hope this doesn't upset anyone this art comes from a good place.. it's only a big sleep, yes it's only a big sleep, if we call it a big sleep then I'll see you in your dreams, our dreams, our dreams ....
